How do uncertainties impact the implementation of nature-based solutions for coastal adaptation?

Nature Based Solutions (NbS) are seen as a promising venue for coastal adaptation to climate change. Combining natural dynamics with technical solutions, NbS can be driven by unpredictable natural dynamics, unanticipated surprises, and changing external conditions. And as such, they involve fundamentally different uncertainties.

Mobile species are ‘glue’ which strengthen the conservation of ecosystems

A groundbreaking study conducted across 30 field sites in the southwest UK has revealed the importance of incorporating varied habitats at the landscape scale. The research, led by a team of ecologists at the University of Bristol, addresses critical questions in conservation and land management, emphasising the importance of understanding species interactions and how food chains operate across multiple habitats.
