Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque Professor at BC3, one of the Lead Authors of IPBES “Global Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services“ Assessment Report

Unai Pascual has been a member of the IPBES Global Assessment Management Committee and is one of the lead authors of the report, as the only Spanish lead author. The report is the first global assessment systematically covering the scientific research of the past 50 years and the knowhow of indigenous and local communities based on some 15,000 studies prepared by 145 world-renowned authors of scientific prestige from 50 different countries.

The last Assessment report “Global Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services” of IPBES had huge impact at media, within scientific and citizenship impact. International, national and regional media interviewed Ikerbasque Profesor at BC3 Unai Pascual, one of the Lead Authors, as the only Spanish lead author. Book: Aid Effectiveness for Environmental Sustainability

This collection examines the role that foreign aid can play in dealing with the severe global challenge of climate change, one of the most pressing international development issues of the 21st century. Being able to rely on scientific evidence and tools to manage forecasts is a key factor to improving the status of nature on the planet and to protecting and using ecosystems sustainably, so vital for modern-day and future societies. For a long time, the scientific community has gathered local information on the benefits that nature contributes to population groups and, for the first time, an international group of researchers has created an interactive world map on the benefits of nature worldwide.
