National pathways and policy packages to low-greenhouse gas development in the land use sector

May 2, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

This presentation will first focus on low-GHG development pathways for agriculture, forestry and land use (AFOLU) in Brazil, India and Indonesia, developed together with in-country research teams in the respective country. Specifically, it will present an analysis of the importance of the AFOLU sector for national emission reductions and the respective drivers of transformation in AFOLU in the three countries. Second, we will explore how to draw policy implications from the pathways, and the first steps towards the definition of a framework for the analysis of policy packages in AFOLU will be presented.

About the lecturer

Johannes works on the development of low-greenhouse gas development pathways in the agriculture, forestry and other land use (AFOLU) sector within the Deep Decarbonisation Pathways initiative at IDDRI. His work aims at informing policymakers in a variety of countries on how deep decarbonisation in the AFOLU sector can be achieved, the levers that can drive this process and the indicators to follow. The work also explores the global enabling conditions of ambitious AFOLU pathways in a series of countries
