The ARIES team regrets to announce that due to the global crisis deriving from the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) International Spring University (ISU) on Ecosystem Services Modelling will not be able to take place and have been postponed until May 2021.

Marta Olazabal, from BC3 - Basque Centre for Climate Change multidisciplinary research centre and AXA Postdoc Fellow, has been interviewed as part of "Confronting a Global Crisis" series, where the AXA Research Fund supported scientists and AXA leadership share their perspectives on the global crisis and the COVID19. Dr. Olazabal shared her view on cities, urbanisation and Coronavirus.

Este 2020 se cerrará con un descenso histórico de las emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en España, según pronostica un completo estudio realizado por BC3 (Basque Centre for Climate Change) y el Observatorio de la Transición Energética y la Acción Climática (Otea). Los investigadores de ambas instituciones estiman que la caída global será del 15%, la mayor desde que arrancaron en 1990 los inventarios nacionales de este tipo de gases, que son los responsables del calentamiento global.

Alejandro Rodriguez-Zuñiga, BC3ko Low Carbon taldeko ikertzailea, elkarrizketatu dute Radio del Principado de Asturias irratsaioan, Basque Centre for Climate Changek eta Trantsizio Energetikoaren eta Espainiako Ekintza Klimatikoaren Behatokiak berotegi-efektuko gasen isurketen beherakadari buruz argitaratutako azken azterketari buruz. Rodriguez-Zuñigak azaldu duenez, jaitsiera nabarmenenak lotura zuzena du konfinamendu zorrotzaren hilabeteekin, martxoa eta maiatza bitartean, baina murrizketan beste faktore batzuek ere eragina dutela azpimarratu du, besteak beste, ikatz-zentralek menpekotasunaren beherakadak.
