NEIKER-Tecnalia, Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) y Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) promoverán y liderarán la investigación científica y la transferencia de conocimiento en relación con la diseminación de las resistencias a antibióticos en el medio ambiente y el riesgo que ello supone para la salud ambiental y humana. Las tres entidades han firmado un convenio para impulsar la iniciativa Joint Research Lab on Environmental Antibiotic Resistance (JRL). JRL integrará la investigación realizada en Euskadi en este ámbito con el objetivo de asegurar su eficiencia y garantizar el máximo impacto de los resultados.

Unai Pascual has been a member of the IPBES Global Assessment Management Committee and is one of the lead authors of the report, as the only Spanish lead author. The report is the first global assessment systematically covering the scientific research of the past 50 years and the knowhow of indigenous and local communities based on some 15,000 studies prepared by 145 world-renowned authors of scientific prestige from 50 different countries.

Prof. María José Sanz, BC3 Scientific Director, and Dr Agustín del Prado, centre researcher, have contributed respective inputs as coordinator and lead author in the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use component of the report.
This last special IPCC report entitled “2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories" was approved at IPCC Plenary Session number 49, held in Kyoto, Japan from 8 to 13 May 2019.
