Women and girls in Climate Change Science

February 11, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:45 am

We are happy to invite you to the second edition of our special Training Caravan organized by BC3 on 11 February to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

This event is a special feature of our Training Caravan (Ikertzaileak gelan) initiative as part of BC3‘s Responsible Science and Innovation Programme. We aim to raise awareness to secondary school students in the Basque Autonomous Community (BAC) for the societal and physical challenges arising from climate change based on the most recent scientific output. Further, we are promoting science and research as a possible attractive working career for young and driven students. Since 2010, we have been committed to awakening scientific vocation among students in the BAC, bringing research careers into the classroom, and promoting the design of inclusive and sustainable science and innovation.

In continuation of our last year’s Women in Science initiative, we are organizing two webinars, in English (10.00-10.45) and in Basque (11.00-11.45). We present climate change as a field of research and as a possible career path closer to young students, and especially to women, as the field still experiences an enormous gender gap. Two female BC3 scientists will talk about their personal and professional experiences, the challenges they are facing as women, and the importance of gender mainstreaming in climate change research and action.

If you would like to send any suggestions or questions to be taken into consideration during the webinars, you can do so by sending an email to trainingcaravan@bc3research.org before the 9th of February.
