BC3’s Climate Adaptation To Shifting Stocks (CLOCK) project, funded by an ERC Starting Grant, focuses on the profound transformations occurring in the world’s oceans due to climate change, specifically in international tuna fisheries. The project’s goal is to understand and address the impacts of climate change on marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of those dependent on them.

Entre mayo de 2022 y febrero de 2023 tuvo lugar el proceso de investigación ‘Construcción Colectiva de Conocimiento en torno al Mar Menor y el Campo de Cartagena’ con 8 actores locales del territorio, co-facilitado por Paula Zuluaga Guerra y Violeta Cabello Villarejo. Compartimos dos documentos que recogen los principales aprendizajes de nuestra reflexión colectiva con los y las participantes respecto a la crisis del Mar Menor, así como los nuestros como investigadoras y co-facilitadoras del proceso respecto a cómo fomentar la participación social en este contexto.

La nueva estrategia, coordinada por un grupo del propio equipo de BC3, busca equilibrar los aspectos ambientales de las operaciones de la organización, minimizando los impactos negativos en el medio ambiente y la sociedad, y maximizando los beneficios a largo plazo.
“Dentro del grupo de trabajo que hemos creado para desarrollar el plan estamos personas de áreas muy diversas de BC3. Esto contribuirá a reforzar que la nueva estrategia de sostenibilidad vaya acorde a los valores del centro y a que sea compatible con nuestros proyectos y actividades”. En esta primera fase de diagnóstico, se va a valorar la situación del centro y los hábitos de sus trabajadores en términos de sostenibilidad. Este análisis se utilizará como punto de partida para consensuar con los diferentes grupos de trabajo la batería de propuestas que formará parte del plan de sostenibilidad y movilidad y que contribuirá a que BC3 sea un centro de investigación eficiente en sus recursos y bajo en carbono.
