Unai Pascual named to 2021 ‘highly cited researchers’ list

Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque Research Professor at BC3 (Basque Centre for Climate Change), has been named to the prestigious Clarivate Analytics list of “Highly Cited Researchers” for 2021. The 2021 list of Highly Cited Researchers, in a new Cross-Field category to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields during 2010-2020 with production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% in Web of Science, includes researchers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year.

BC3 contribute in COP25 to different events and platform as admitted observer organization

BC3 is an admitted observer organization at Conference of the Parties. Since 2010 BC3 has been playing an active role at COPs with a variety of contributions. UN agencies, admitted observer organizations and those Parties that partner with observers present their work or foster discussions on key issues, often engaging the audience in a Q&A session.BC3 will contribute in COP25 to different events and platform for admitted observer organizations, which have limited speaking opportunities in the formal negotiations, to engage with Parties and other participants for knowledge sharing, capacity building, networking and exploring actionable options for meeting the climate challenge.

Unai Pascual, investigador de BC3, presenta los resultados del informe del IPBES ante el Parlamento Vasco

Unai Pascual investigador de BC3 -  Basque Centre for Climate Change: Klima Aldaketa Ikergai e Ikerbasque Professor, ha presentado ante el Parlamento Vasco las principales claves del informe realizado por la Plataforma Intergubernamental sobre Biodiversidad y Servicios de los Ecosistemas (IPBES) sobre biodiversidad. Este informe ha sido publicado el 29 de mayo en Paris, con un gran impacto en la ciudadanía y en los medios de comunicación. Unai Pascual, ha sido miembro del Comité de Gestión de la Evaluación Global de IPBES y es uno de los autores principales del informe, siendo el único autor principal del Estado.

This conference was scherduled to take place from 2-13 September 2019, at the India Expo Center and Mart in New Delhi, India.Part of the side event “Economics of land degradation: Development Alternatives, WOTR & the ELD Initiative” the Distinguished Ikerbasque Professor Markandya gave a presentation about “Economics of Land Degatation: Insights from an evaluation study in Bundelhand by Development Alternatives Group”.

New BC3-FAO-PROFOR/WB Infography: Mapping Katowice decisions related to Nationally determined contributions

The materials presented in this product seek to provide information on the Katowice Climate Package, agreed during the Katowice Climate Conference held in 2018. Specifically, it contains information on the decisions related to the modalities, procedures and guidelines for the transparency framework for action and support to facilitate understanding of the Parties’ communication and reporting obligations under the Paris Agreement, as well as the process to track progress implementation of NDC commitments. This material seeks to serve as a resource for developing countries for the update, review and communication of NDCs, as well as for the reporting and accounting of their NDC commitments.

BC3 Scientific Director, María José Sanz, participate as co-chair, at the GFOI Plenary 2019 held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 8-11 April 2019. The objective of the The Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) is an informal partnership to coordinate international support to developing countries on forest monitoring and MRV procedures for REDD+ and related activities. Through collaborative action, GFOI aims to provide a larger and more targeted package of support than any one partner can provide alone.

BC3 Scientific director María José Sanz took part at the "key systems models, links and gaps and development options"workshop. In the context of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Special Report on 1.5°C, the JPI Climate Action Group "GHG emissions, removals and management systems" organised a workshop on 27-28 March 2019, in Brussels, with the aim to explore the state of play of key models (central to the provision of analysis of the drivers of climate change and response options to achieve policy goals as established in the Paris Agreement), including how models are linked and gaps that may exist between them.
