The HORIZON Magazine interviewed researchers Ibon Galarraga and Eleanor Denny about the results of the CONSEED project and what they learned from consumers about their engagement with the range of energy efficient cars, property and appliances on the European market. Galarraga stressed "how is critical that Europe supports individuals to buy correctly, because energy eficiency is one of the easiest ways to save energy".

BC3 researcher Marta Olazabal took part at the especial edition of "Action Nan: Trash Warrior" recorded in Cornwall, where she talk about climate change and the environmental problems that are causing the plastic.Pat Smith, aka "Action Nan", is a 70 year old woman who, as a purpose, decided to clean the beaches of Great Britain.

Plentzia, 18 de julio, se ha celebrado el curso de verano "Resistencia a antibióticos en el medio ambiente: origen de un escenario apocalíptico" donde durante dos días se ha hablado sobre el impacto en la salud humana, animal y medioambiental de la resistencia a antibióticos, un curso de verano que nace del convenio entre NEIKER-Tecnalia, Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea (UPV/EHU) y Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) para impulsar la iniciativa Joint Research Lab on Environmental Antibiotic Resistance (JRL). La prensa nacional e regional ha entrevistado a los organizadores y ponentes del curso de verano de la UPV/EHU celebrado en la Estación Marina de Plentzia (PiE).

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) is looking for a motivated quantitative researcher to work on the international project OBServ. The main aim is to build predictive models of pollinator biodiversity and ecosystem function delivery using both data-driven and mechanistic models. Start date is Fall 2019, although later dates can be discussed.

Los días 18 y 19 de julio en la Estación Marina de Plentzia (PiE) y dentro de los Cursos de Verano de la UPV/EHU se celebrará un curso sobre el impacto en la salud humana, animal y medioambiental de la resistencia a antibióticos. Investigadores expertos en resistencia a antibióticos impartirán clases sobre distintos aspectos de uno de los problemas de Salud Pública más importantes en el momento actual.

Marta Olazabal, investigadora de BC3, ha participado en la segunda edición de Fast Fast Forward LIVE, una serie de eventos globales sobre innovación y tecnología organizados por AXA XL. La segunda edición se ha centrado en la innovación de los seguros climático paramétrico. Olazabal ha sido parte del panel de expertos donde el debate se ha centrado en ejemplos prácticos de soluciones paramétricas aplicadas a varias industrias como Energía, Construcción, Alimentación y Distribución.

Tras el informe especial del Panel Intergubernamental para el Cambio Climático de Naciones Unidas (IPCC) alertando de los efectos del calentamiento global y la necesidad urgente de limitar el aumento de la temperatura media del planeta a 1,5C, expertos de algunos de los principales centros europeos de investigación analizarán las claves científicas y políticas para alcanzar este objetivo en la 10ª edición de la Escuela de Verano sobre Cambio Climático que coorganizan BC3 y la Universidad del País Vasco

El Foro de Expertos sobre Contabilidad Experimental de Ecosistemas SEEA 2019 se ha celebrado los días 26 y 27 de junio del 2019 en Glen Cove (Nueva York). Lo ha organizado la División de Estadística de Naciones Unidas (UNSD) junto con el Programa Medioambiental de Naciones Unidas (UN Environment) y el Banco Mundial. Ferdinando Villa, investigador de BC3 Ikerbasque, ha participado en la sesión sobre avances en el modelado biofísico para la contabilidad de ecosistemas

The EAERE Fellows program was instituted in 2019 to recognize outstanding contributions in the field of environmental and resource economics for their contributions to the advancement of the profession of environmental and resource economists through outstanding publications, and/or important roles in the policy word, and/or important roles in the Association’s governance and/or activities.
