Nicolás Gonzalez, investigador de BC3 - Basque Centre for Climate Change, afronta el reto del proyecto transdisciplinar BALELUR, que permitirá comprobar y sensibilizar sobre los efectos del cambio climático en la región del Karakorum. Gonzalez, junto con el equipo del alpinista Alex Txikon, realizará el trabajo de campo, incluyendo comunicaciones, entrevistas, mediciones geofísicas y recogida de muestras de nieve y de suelo a diferentes alturas.

Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque Research Professor at BC3 (Basque Centre for Climate Change), has been named to the prestigious Clarivate Analytics list of "Highly Cited Researchers" for 2018 . The 2018 list of Highly Cited Researchers, in a new Cross-Field category to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields during 2006-2016 with production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% in Web of Science, includes researchers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year.

This year, 2018 BC3 will be contributing by organizing its own Side Eventin collaboration with the Centre For Research on Energy and Environmental Economics and Policy (IEFE) of Bocconi University Milan and the Foundation for Gaia. Since 2010 BC3 has been playing an active role at COPs with a variety of contributions.

La serie de informes sobre la brecha de adaptación del PNUMA se centra en las deficiencias de las finanzas, la tecnología y el conocimiento en la adaptación al cambio climático. Cumplimenta a la serie de informes sobre la brecha de emisiones y explora las consecuencias de no cerrar la brecha de emisiones.
El informe se basa en una evaluación realizada por el Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente (PNUMA) en 2014, en la que se estableció el concepto de "lagunas de adaptación" y se señalaron tres vacíos: tecnología, finanzas y conocimientos.

Biosphere stewardship is about humans recognizing that they are part of and indeed dependent on the biosphere to maintain their own well-being. When humans recognize that, they are also responsible for the sustainable use and protection of the living systems we depend on. But what kind of knowledge systems, values, management practices, behaviour and governance arrangements could help foster this biosphere stewardship? Ikerbasque Professor Unai Pascual from the Basque Centre for Climate Change offered his views on the issue. He highlighted the benefits of incorporating relational values in ecosystem assessments.
