FPI. Pre-doctoral fellowships for doctoral students 2022

BC3, the Basque Centre for Climate Change, as Maria de Maeztu Unit, is a host insitution of FPI pre-doctoral fellowship promoted by the Ministry of Science and Innovation. BC3 offers up to 6 research projects to be carried out in a multidisciplinary and international research team.

The Sustainable Development Goals on the road to Paris

A recent paper published in Global Environmental Change analysed the long-term impacts of climate policies on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and concluded the need to align them with the Paris Agreement in order to keep the global average temperature below 2°C.

Publicación del estudio sobre emisiones adelantadas 2022

Tras la caída histórica de las emisiones de gas de efecto invernadero (GEI) en 2020 a consecuencia de la crisis socioeconómica derivada de la expansión de la COVID-19 y el repunte de 2021, surgen numerosas dudas sobre si en el contexto de recuperación económica y crisis energética de 2022 las emisiones habrán seguido la tendencia al alza del año anterior o, si por el contrario, se habrán estabilizado.

PhD student “BIOTraCes”

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) offers a 3-year PhD research position as part of the research project BIOTraces - Biodiversity and Transformative Change for Plural and Nature-Positive Societies (GA: 101081923), funded by the European Commission under the call HORIZON-CL6-2022-BIODIV-01-09, and which has the estimated duration of four years. The PhD will be undertaken in collaboration with the Centre for  Science, Technology & Policy Studies of the University of Twente, the Netherlands.

Congratulations to new BC3 PhD graduate Alessandro Silvestri

Dr Alessandro Silvestri graduated with a thesis entitled “The transition towards low-carbon mobility: policies measures and consumer behaviour” today at Sarriko's Faculty of Economics and Business (UPV/EHU).  Dr Silvestri has participated in the H2020 project Enable, as well as the La Caixa Fundation Enerpolis project. Dr Silvestri's thesis has been supervised by Professor Alberto Ansuategi Cobo (UPV/EHU) and Dr Sébastien Foudi (BC3).

BC3 participates in the new European project BIOTraCes

The new BC3 EU-funded project Biodiversity and Transformative Change for plural and nature positive societies (BIOTraCes) which has just begun aims to boost biodiversity across Europe. To tackle nature-related, societal and local policy issues, researchers will perform nine case studies across Europe.

Congratulations to new BC3 PhD graduate Elena López Bernabé

Dr Elena Lopéz Bernabé graduated with a thesis entitled “Understanding energy efficiency in households and hotels in Spain: a combination of methods to account for stakeholders views” today at Sarriko's Faculty of Economics and Business (UPV/EHU). Dr Lopéz Bernabé has participated in the H2020 projects Coseed and Enable, as well as the La Caixa Fundation Enerpolis project. Dr Lopez Bernabé's thesis has been supervised by Professor Ibon Galarraga (BC3/UPV-EHU) and Professor Pedro Linares (ICAI).
