BC3 announces two significant milestones for theARIES project: the release of the latest technical report, Global Estimates of Carbon Stocks in the Vegetation and Soils of Terrestrial Ecosystems, and the pivotal contribution to the upcoming Changing Wealth of Nations 2024 (CWON) report from the World Bank Group.

Dr. Sébastien Huclin graduated with a thesis entitled “Medium-term technical and economic analysis of storage impacts on power systems under different scenarios with a high renewable share” at theComillas Pontifical University.

Este prestigioso reconocimiento, otorgado por el Ministerio de Ciencia e Innovación, subraya el compromiso del centro con la excelencia científica.

BC3 da la bienvenida a dos investigadores y a una investigadora que se unen a su equipo como miembros de Ikerbasque, la Fundación Vasca para la Ciencia. El investigador de BC3 Manuel Franco ha sido nombrado Ikerbasque Research Professor, mientras que los investigadores Isabel Donoso y Philip Martin han sido reconocidos como Ikerbasque Research Fellows.

El pasado 16 de septiembre, el profesor de investigación Ikerbasque de BC3 Unai Pascual participó como ponente en el evento "Mandato por el Clima" en el Congreso de los Diputados de Madrid.

BC3 is pleased to announce the release of its 2023 Annual Report, titled “Enhancing climate research for climate policy”. This year’s report underscores BC3’s commitment to advancing scientific research that informs and shapes climate policy.

Last week, Bilbao was the centre of attention for more than 200 experts from over 40 countries who gathered for the 8th International Conference on Big Data and Data Science for Official Statistics. From June 10-14, this significant event, organized by the UN’s Statistics Division (UN DESA) in collaboration with BC3, the Basque Government, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the European Union and Cooperation, INE, and EUSTAT, focused on using big data to inform climate change and sustainable development policies.

María José Sanz, directora científica de BC3, participó ayer en la presentación oficial de la Oficina Nacional de Asesoramiento Científico (ONAC). El evento celebrado en la sede central del Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) en Madrid, contó con la presencia del presidente del Gobierno de España Pedro Sánchez y con la ministra de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades Diana Morant.

Dr Ester Galende graduated with a thesis entitled “Our future, our voice. Exploring the role of citizen participation for transformative and just climate policies in the EU” today at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
