BC3 participará en la expedición WinterTopAppel del montañero Alex Txikon, quien pretende escalar la cima del K2 en invierno, y convertirse así en la primera persona que lo logra. El K2 (8.611m) es la segunda montaña más alta de la tierra y la más difícil de escalar, por ello, y por ser la segunda en porcentaje de fatalidades es conocida como “la Montaña Salvaje”.

Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque Research Professor at BC3 (Basque Centre for Climate Change), has been named to the prestigious Clarivate Analytics list of "Highly Cited Researchers" for 2018 . The 2018 list of Highly Cited Researchers, in a new Cross-Field category to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields during 2006-2016 with production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% in Web of Science, includes researchers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year.

El Departamento de Educación del Gobierno Vasco y el centro de investigación BC3, organizan de forma conjunta la iniciativa “Training Caravan – Ikertzaileak Gelan”, activa desde el año 2010. Esta iniciativa (que cumple su 10ª edición este año) se organiza en el marco del Programa de Ciencia Responsable e Innovación (RRI por sus siglas en inglés) de BC3.The aim the Training Caravan initiative, underpinned by the Science Education thematic area of BC3´s RRI Science Education, is to provide evidence(science)-based answers to some central questions about climate change, drawing on the best current scientific understanding and at the same time, making science education and careers attractive for young people.
