Postdoc Researcher – MicroFAME project

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) offers a full-time postdoctoral researcher position to support the research activities of the Research Line 1 (RL1) “Climate Basis” and its low-temperature laboratory, the IzotzaLab, in the context of the national project MicroFAME, funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation.

About the project:

“MicroFAME: Exploring the Microstructural Fading Memory of Firn to Improve Our Understanding of Glacier Dynamics” is a three-year research project that started in 01 Sep 2023. It is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, and is led by Prof. Sérgio Henrique Faria (PI), who is coordinator of the Research Line 1 (RL1) “Climate Basis” and director of the IzotzaLab, the Basque Laboratory for Low-Temperature Science.

The prime objective of MicroFAME is to explore the potential of the hypothesis of Microstructural Fading Memory (MFM) to advance our fundamental scientific knowledge of ice and firn, in order to create a new paradigm of ice creep viscosity for the modelling of glacier and ice-sheet dynamics.
