Ibon Galarraga, científico del BC3, reconocido por la Fundación “la Caixa” por su proyecto ENERPOLIS

Ibon Galarraga, investigador del Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) ha sido uno de los galardonados de la primera convocatoria de Investigación Social de la Fundación “la Caixa”. En concreto, el científico vasco ha sido reconocido por su proyecto “Políticas de eficiencia energética en España: análisis de las elecciones de consumidor” (ENERPOLIS), que analiza la disposición a pagar por la eficiencia energética de los electrodomésticos y la efectividad de la Zona de Bajas Emisiones (ZBE) de Madrid, aportando propuestas de mejora.

“Superfoods”, a super-impact on the environment

So-called “superfoods”, such as quinoa or avocado, are being increasingly consumed in western diets which are seeking new ways of achieving healthy, “eco-friendly” diets. However, this growing demand is increasing their environmental and social impact worldwide, and this is not being taken into consideration.

Book “Transition to a low-carbon economy in Spain”

FUNCAS, with BC3 - Basque Centre for Climate Change collaboration, has released a new book about low carbon transition in Spain. "Transición hacia una economía baja en carbono" book has been edited by BC3 scientific director María José Sanz and BC3 senior researcher MIkel González-Eguino.FUNCAS is a private non-profit organization created and financed by CECA, as part of its social-charter investments, to carry out activities that will benefit Spanish society, promote a culture of saving and help raise awareness of the services savings banks offer to the community.

Article “Climate change perception: Driving forces and their interactions”

Public perception of climate change can either facilitate or hinder the implementation of climate policies. This perception is dependent on a number of influencing factors, called drivers, in ways that are still not clearly understood. Our study quantifies the relative strength of drivers of climate change perception, taking into account differences in the social, political, geographical, economic and educational identities of any considered community.

“The future of cities in the face of twin crises” Marta Olazabal’s opinion article at The Conversation

This time of a global health crisis,  Marta Olazabal, BC3-Basque Centre for Climate Change Research Fellow and AXA Research Fund Postdoctoral Fellow, and Sarah Colenbrander from World Resources Institute, write an opinion article on climate change and the COVID-19 crisis and how this can be addressed in cities.Olazabal and Colenbrander's article deal with the critical point that this situation cost to cities and the new investment to handle it.
