Prof. María José Sanz, BC3 Scientific Director, and Dr Agustín del Prado, centre researcher, have contributed respective inputs as coordinator and lead author in the Agriculture, Forestry and Other Land Use component of the report.
This last special IPCC report entitled “2019 Refinement to the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories" was approved at IPCC Plenary Session number 49, held in Kyoto, Japan from 8 to 13 May 2019.

The last Assessment report “Global Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services” of IPBES had huge impact at media, within scientific and citizenship impact. International, national and regional media interviewed Ikerbasque Profesor at BC3 Unai Pascual, one of the Lead Authors, as the only Spanish lead author. BC3 celebrates the 8 edition of Klimagune Workshop. This year edition will address the challenges of urban adaptation to climate change, next 7th of June at Bizkaia Aretoa, Bilbao. Organized in within the framework of PROCESA research project and has the support of the Biodiversity Foundation of Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition.

The Scientific Director of BC3, Prof. María José Sanz, is currently in Kyoto, Japan, in the IPCC discussion on the last new Methodology Report titled "Refinement of 2019 of the 2006 IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories", within which she participates as the coordinator of leading author Agustin Prado, BC3 researcher.

Unai Pascual has been a member of the IPBES Global Assessment Management Committee and is one of the lead authors of the report, as the only Spanish lead author. The report is the first global assessment systematically covering the scientific research of the past 50 years and the knowhow of indigenous and local communities based on some 15,000 studies prepared by 145 world-renowned authors of scientific prestige from 50 different countries.

La directora científica de BC3, María José Sanz, participa en el proyecto "¿Por qué tan pocas?: Tecnólogas y científicas a la luz" con el objetivo de visibilizar el papel de las mujeres españolas en el campo de la tecnología y la ciencia a través de materiales audiovisuales orientados a crear nuevos referentes femeninos en este ámbito para las niñas, adolescentes y jóvenes (también entre niños, adolescentes y jóvenes varones).

Adif Alta Velocidad ha realizado una nueva emisión de ‘bonos verdes’, por importe de 600 millones de euros, destinados a financiar o refinanciar proyectos que generan beneficios ambientales o climáticos. La duración del bono es de 8 años con un pago de cupón anual del 0,95%. El diferencial frente al Bono del Tesoro español a dicho plazo se ha situado en 28 puntos básicos, reduciendo el margen de la emisión realizada en abril de 2018 en 6 puntos básicos. BC3, en colaboración con CICERO (Center for International Climate Research), ha sido encargado de revisar los "bonos verdes" que siguen los principios de ICMA (International Capital Market Association), donde otorgó a Adif AV la máxima calificacion de los cuatro niveles existentes (Dark Green).

BC3 co-organiza el workshop "El Cambio Climático en las empresas y la industria" junto a UPV/EHU y Funts Project el próximo 6 de mayo en la Escuela de Ingeniería de Gipuzkoa (Escuela de Eibar). Este evento tiene como objetivo ayudar a las empresas y a la industria a aclarar las dudas sobre el cambio climático, a entender el nuevo marco en el que se van a mover las empresas y establecer un hoja de ruta que permita a las empresa dar los primeros pasos hacia un nuevo modelo de organización responsable con su entorno y con el planeta.

Researcher Castán took part at our annual Visiting programme, where researcher for different institutions came to our centre to give a seminar about their latest research.

BC3 Scientific Director, María José Sanz, participate as co-chair, at the GFOI Plenary 2019 held in Maputo, Mozambique, from 8-11 April 2019. The objective of the The Global Forest Observations Initiative (GFOI) is an informal partnership to coordinate international support to developing countries on forest monitoring and MRV procedures for REDD+ and related activities. Through collaborative action, GFOI aims to provide a larger and more targeted package of support than any one partner can provide alone.
