Unai Pascual has been interviewed in the radio program Amarauna on COVID-19 consequences

Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque researcher at BC3 – Basque Centre for Climate Change, has been interviewed on the radio programme Amarauna, Euskadi Irratia, on the consequences of COVID-19on climate change. According to the researcher, it is still too early to draw conclusions about the health of our planet. Pascual said it is too soon to know whether this coronavirus will have an effect on the climate emergency when the situation returns to normal, we need to analyze the results and identify the effects it will have on the energy transition and the ecology.

New research indicates that full recovery of degraded ecosystems can last for centuries

Research published in the scientific journal Ecosistemas de la Asociación Española de Ecología Terrestre shows that temperate forests that have been conserved for more than 100 years after suffering centuries of human activity have not yet been fully recovered, a longer period than previously estimated. In the words of the authors of this study, “at first sight a forest that has many trees and other plants may seem recovered, but in addition to that, the trees, fungi and other species present must interact and this may even require centuries“.

BC3 accepted the challenge of ReActívate + initiative

BC3- Basque Centre for Climate Change, as a research centre for the causes and consequences of Climate Change, has acceded to take part at ReActívate + initiative promoted by the Bizkaia Provincial Council.The initiative is based on the commitment to the Global Action Plan (GAP), an international network created with the objective of reducing CO2 emissions, and helping to meet the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This initiative aims to make 180,000 households change their habits in daily activities to: reduce household expenses, reduce the impact we produce on the planet and improve the quality of life of the place where we live.

Alegul Sorman participa en el programa Hágase la Luz para visibilizar el papel de los jóvenes ante el Cambio Climático

Alevgul Sorman, investigadora Ikerbasque en el BC3 - Basque Centre for Climate Change, ha subrayado la importancia de la voz de las generaciones más jóvenes para hacer frente y dar respuesta al cambio climático. La investigadora a participado en el programa "Hágase la Luz" de Radio Euskadi donde el centro de investigación tiene una colaboración continua para darle importancia a este reto que es combatir la emergencia climática. Sorman que acaba de volver de una aventura sen el Pacífico, un viaje alrededor del mundo organizado por el gobierno de Japón donde ha sido facilitadora entre más de 200 jóvenes que han participado en la aventura marítima.

BC3 colabora con el programa de radio “Hágase la luz” de Radio Euskadi

El programa de radio "Hágase la luz" de Radio Euskadi (EITB), con la colaboración de los investigadores e investigadoras del Basque Centre for Climate Change, ha puesto el foco en la crisis climática o el cambio climático creando una sección semanal donde se tratara el cambio climático desde diferentes aspectos, tales como la deforestación, la pobreza, la transición energética, la ecofisiología vegetal, los bosques, la migración, la montaña y  la biodiversidad. Todos los domingos entre 7.00-8.00 en Hágase la luz.
