BC3 will participate in the Emakumeak Zientzian initiative with the event“Training Caravan - Women and girls in Climate Change”, on the occasion of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is celebrated every year on 11 February. The day will consist of a round table broadcast online from BC3. Two female scientists working on climate change will talk about their personal and professional experiences.

La investigación de González-Eguino tiene como objetivo apoyar la toma de decisiones para acelerar la transición hacia una economía baja en carbono, sostenible y que promueva la justicia social.

The new BC3 EU-funded project Biodiversity and Transformative Change for plural and nature positive societies (BIOTraCes) which has just begun aims to boost biodiversity across Europe. To tackle nature-related, societal and local policy issues, researchers will perform nine case studies across Europe.

Dr Elena Lopéz Bernabé graduated with a thesis entitled “Understanding energy efficiency in households and hotels in Spain: a combination of methods to account for stakeholders views” today at Sarriko's Faculty of Economics and Business (UPV/EHU). Dr Lopéz Bernabé has participated in the H2020 projects Coseed and Enable, as well as the La Caixa Fundation Enerpolis project. Dr Lopez Bernabé's thesis has been supervised by Professor Ibon Galarraga (BC3/UPV-EHU) and Professor Pedro Linares (ICAI).

La investigadora Marta Olazabal y los investigadores Agustín del Prado y Pablo Manzano de BC3 fueron presentados como nuevos investigadores Ikerbasque el pasado 28 de noviembre en un acto oficial en el museo Guggenheim de Bilbao que conmemoraba el 15 aniversario de la Fundación Vasca para la Ciencia.

BC3 has been officially recognised as a “María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence” by the State Research Agency, a public agency attached to the Ministry of Science and Innovation. This is the second time that the institute obtains this recognition after receiving it in 2018.

Today 25 November marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. It is a day designated by the UN since 1981 to raise awareness of violence against women around the world.BC3 launches an online campaign to join the commemoration.

Stanford University recently released the list of the World’s Top 2% of Scientists in the updated Science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators and five BC3 researchers ranked in the following order as the most influential researchers: Unai Pascual, Anil Markandya, Mikel Gonzalez-Eguino, Ibon Galarraga and Luis Mari Abadie

Dr. Anil Markandya, Ikerbasque Distinguished Professor at BC3, has been selected as the recipient of the 9th Venus International Research Award (VIRA 2023) for lifetime achievement in the area of Environmental Economics research.
