BC3 becomes member of Think Sustainable Europe

BC3 – Basque Centre for Climate Change interdisciplinary research centre becomes new member of Think Sustainable Europe, the network of European sustainability think tanks. For the BC3 Scientific Director María José Sanz been part of “Think Sustainable Europe represents a coalition of leading institutes across Europe that can collectively offer a space for discovering transdisciplinary and more coherent solutions for the environmental and socio-economic challenges and for the promotion of transformative changes that the EU and its Member States are facing,”.

This Equality Manifesto published in December 2020 transmits our institutional commitment with equality. This manifesto pursues eradicating harassment and violence, manifesting our commitment to equality at the workplace and in our everyday lives.

New Collaboration between Egintza and BC3

The financial donation that we made a year ago allowed Eragintza users to train qualified, improve their curriculum and find employment. With the delivery of the "Onak Diploma of Thanks" of the Eragintza Foundation they want to thank and praise the collaboration provided by the interdisciplinary centre. In the coming years we will continue in this line of collaboration.

Movistar+ estrena la serie documental “Porvenir” que analiza las causas y consecuencias del cambio climático, así como el calentamiento global en España. María José Sanz, directora cientítica del BC3 – Basque Centre for Climate Change, participa como experta en cambio climático junto al biólogo Fernando Valladares y ecólogo Pedro Jordano. Una docuficción conducido por Iñaki Gabilondo y con un reparto formado por Roberto Álamo, Marian Álvarez, Víctor Clavijo y Stephanie Gil.

BC3 supports the UNITE campaign to end violence against women

Launched in 2008, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's campaign UNITE to End Violence against Women is a multi-year initiative that seeks to prevent and eliminate violence against women and girls around the world.The 2020 campaign, "16 days of activism against gender violence" of the United Nations System, is celebrated from today, November 25 - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, until December 10, Human Rights Day.

New edition of Euskaraldia

Between November 20 and December 4, BC3 – Basque Centre for Climate Change will participate in Euskaraldia 2020. The main purpose of Euskaraldia is to increase the use of the Basque language during this period.

Unai Pascual named to 2020 ‘highly cited researchers’ list

Unai Pascual, Ikerbasque Research Professor at BC3 (Basque Centre for Climate Change), has been named to the prestigious Clarivate Analytics list of “Highly Cited Researchers” for 2020. The 2020 list of Highly Cited Researchers, in a new Cross-Field category to identify researchers with substantial influence across several fields during 2009-2019 with production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% in Web of Science, includes researchers ranking in the top 1 percent by citations for field and publication year.

Escaping the ‘Era of Pandemics’: Experts warn worse crises to come and offer options to reduce risk

Future pandemics will emerge more often, spread more rapidly, do more damage to the world economy and kill more people than COVID-19 unless there is a transformative change in the global approach to dealing with infectious diseases, warns a major new report on biodiversity and pandemics, convened by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES).

BC3, Basque Center for Climate Change, “Bilbao Radio Award for Excellence in Research Category” 2020

The Bilbao Radio Awards for Excellence  has recognize in their fourth edition the good work of many personalities in the basque territory.  BC3, Basque Center for Climate Change has been one of the entities awarded with an award for Excellence by Radio Bilbao (Cadena SER), in this case for research excellence. The awards, which have been presented yesterday, 19 of October, at an event to be held at the Euskalduna Palace, has been be received by the Scientific Director of BC3, Maria José Sanz. BC3 obtains the award thanks to its multidisciplinary centre profile to investigate the causes and consequences of climate change.
