The United Nations Climate Change Conference COP26, organised by the United Kingdom in collaboration with Italy from 31 October to 12 November 2021 at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) in Glasgow (United Kingdom) has as one of the key objectives to review the progress and current state of the Paris Agreement. In addition, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, COP26 offers the opportunity to be the platform for rebuilding local and global economies and establishing a sustainable path to recovery.

Nature Based Solutions (NbS) are seen as a promising venue for coastal adaptation to climate change. Combining natural dynamics with technical solutions, NbS can be driven by unpredictable natural dynamics, unanticipated surprises, and changing external conditions. And as such, they involve fundamentally different uncertainties.
