TRANSIT field technician – Switzerland

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) is looking for a motivated field technician to work on the international project TRANSIT (https://www.ainhoamagrach.com/transit-project.html). The main aim is to collect data on plant-animal interactions, pollinator behavior and plant reproductive success. Start date will be March or April 2020 with a duration of 4 months.

 

Field technician Switzerland

We are looking for a field technician to record data on plant animal interactions, collect insect specimens and record plant reproductive success in Switzerland. The candidate should have a strong background in field work and plant identification. Insect identification is an asset. We are looking for an individual who can lead data collection for a 4-month period as well as store samples and organize material in the lab.

The selected candidates will contribute to the international project TRANSIT (https://www.ainhoamagrach.com/transit-project.html) aimed at understanding the dynamics of plant-animal interactions across space and time.

 

Key responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate in leading field campaigns in natural ecosystems to record plant-animal interactions
  2. Collaborate in initial treatment of insect samples in the laboratory
  3. Collaborate in initial identification of different insects

 Main requirements:

  1. BsC in Biology or related field.
  2. A good physical condition, in order to carry out field campaigns.
  3. Drivers license.
  4. Plant identification knowledge.
  5. Previous experience in carrying out field work for research projects in terrestrial ecosystems.

 

Term of contract

The position will be for a period of 4 months in 2020.
