BC3 Spring University of Ecosystem Services Modeling (2nd edition), 2014

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) in collaboration with Conservation International, the University of Vermont and Earth Economics, is announcing the 2014 edition of the International Spring University on Ecosystem Services Modeling.The International Spring University on Ecosystem Services (ES) Modeling is the second edition of an annual 2-week intensive course that aims to build a new generation of actors, in research, policy and management, who can profitably use ecosystem services models to address and solve sustainability problems.

BC3 paper: Towards globally customizable ecosystem service models

Scientists, stakeholders and decision makers face trade-offs between adopting simple or complex approaches when modeling ecosystem services (ES). Complex approaches may be time- and data-intensive, making them more challenging to implement and difficult to scale, but can produce more accurate and locally specific results. In contrast, simple approaches allow for faster assessments but may sacrifice accuracy and credibility. The ARtificial Intelligence for Ecosystem Services (ARIES) modeling platform has endeavored to provide a spectrum of simple to complex ES models that are readily accessible to a broad range of users

BC3 initiative The International Spring University new edition take place between 8-12 of October. Some national media has spread the news of The International Spring University is taking part this days, such as Europa press, La vanguardia and El diario. Also, the radio stations “Radio Popular” of the Basque Country interviewed the BC3 guest researcher Marta Pascual.
