Stanford University recently released the list of the World’s Top 2% of Scientists in the updated Science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators and five BC3 researchers ranked in the following order as the most influential researchers: Unai Pascual, Anil Markandya, Mikel Gonzalez-Eguino, Ibon Galarraga and Luis Mari Abadie.

The ranking includes the 2% of researchers with the highest number of citations in scientific publications based on the information collected in the Scopus database and without considering their own citations. This list is based on the citations received in the year 2021 and is formulated by applying different parameters related to the impact of scientific publications: number of publications, number of times these have been cited and other indicators of the impact of their work.

The ranking has been published by Elsevier BV, in the article entitled “September 2022 data-update for Updated science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators” (DOI:10.17632/btchxktzyw.4) which has been prepared by John P. A. Ioannidis (Stanford University). The ranking lists around 200,000 people at the cutting edge of science, out of nearly 10 million working in academic and research institutions around the world.
