BC3 – UPV/EHU Summer School Transformation, Adaptation and Mitigation for a 1.5 degree Global Warming
This year, the 10th edition of BC3 – UPV/EHU Summer School, has the objective of debate the spurred by the landmark report by the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) released on October 2018 stating that urgent action has to be taken in the next twelve years for global warming to be kept to a maximum of 1.5°C in order to avoid catastrophic environmental and economic consequences.
Environment resistance to antibiotics: the beginning of an apocalyptic scenario
This summer school co-organize with Euskampus, Neiker Tecnalia and UPV/EHU has the aim for training students in basic and applied knowledge about the role of the environment in the generation and dissemination of resistance to antibiotics and its impact on environmental and human health. Infections by multiresistant bacteria are one of the greatest threats to Public Health, causing high costs in lives and economic expenses. But although the most dramatic consequences are observed in the clinics, the problem of the spread of resistance to antibiotics has its origin in the environment (i.e., agriculture, livestock and urban environments). This situation poses the challenge of integrating different scenarios to arrive to a holistic solution.
