“Academic Writing”

Prof. Erik Dietzenbacher
Faculty of Economics and Business
University of Groningen
The Netherlands

Abstract

This presentation focuses on the writing of a research proposal. It aims at providing tips, hints, do’s and don’ts, and is based on many years of evaluating students’ proposals. And own mistakes, of course. This lecture presents 14 lessons for writing a research proposal, often the first hurdle in an academic career. Most information for writing research proposals applies also to writing papers. After all, it is about writing. Yet, some specific information (six tips) is given for writing a paper.
