Oferta de trabajo: Ayudante de investigación

CLOSED

The Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) invites applications for a research assistant (RA) to work on the project “CAN WE MEASURE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PUBLIC INVESTMENTS IN URBAN CLIMATE RESILIENCE?” funded by the AXA Research Fund. The RA will be working under the supervision of Dr. Marta Olazabal and will be part of the Adaptation Lab at BC3.

BC3 aims to strategically foster co-production of knowledge relevant to decision making by integrating environmental, socioeconomic, and ethical dimensions of climate change. BC3 considers that coordinated transdisciplinary (i.e., interdisciplinary and participatory) research approaches are essential in the post-Paris Agreement era, while being aware that climate action and protection will never be the sole priorities of governments and no single approach will work equally for all members in society. BC3 aspires to contribute to the co-generation of new and relevant scientific knowledge to support policy making at different scales. This includes understanding and linking social and policy processes and promoting regular communication between stakeholders at all governance levels, in the post-Paris and SDGs era.

As one of the five Research Lines at BC3, the Adaptation Lab has a cross-sectoral focus on adaptation economics, adaptation policy analysis, climatic risk assessment, adaptation tracking and climate resilience.

Job description

The aim of the offered research assistantship is to support Dr. Olazabal in the development of a world-wide urban adaptation policy database and the development and testing of risk-based indicators. A summary of the project to be led by Dr. Olazabal can be found here. The tasks will include the development of systematic reviews (policy documents and scientific literature); urban data collection, preparation and analysis; preparation of interview materials and reports, together with other tasks related to overall project support. The RA will be based at BC3 headquarters in Leioa (Bizkaia, Spain). The position will potentially require travelling to conferences and field work in another country (few weeks during spring-summer 2019). Specific details still to be determined. Traveling expenses will be covered by the project.
